Dublin Marathon

Dublin Marathon

42,195 km, of course, is the length of the marathon. Like any self-respecting capital city of Dublin also has its own marathon. Dublin Marathon takes place on a consecutive 1980 years. Always on the last Monday in October, which is a day off from work.

In 1980 a small group of enthusiasts persuaded Business Houses Athletic Association (T) to create a course on the distance 42,195 km in the Irish capital. The multi-part course pierszym 2100 people with more than 1400 completed the course. In subsequent years, the number of participants continues to grow, in 2007 there were already 11000 (Unfortunately I do not have more recent data) half of which were from abroad.

Course usually starts Fitzwilliam Square, and ends at Merrion Square. The route is different each year, the last few years, participating experts around the city in the opposite direction to clockwise (apparently this is in spite of the history of the marathon Dublińskego) zachaczając one of the largest parks in Europe Pheonix Park. For the curious, in that 2000 winner of the women's race was Sonia O'Sullivan of time 2:35:42, Ireland's most famous athlete.

This year's marathon will be held 28 October, and start race scheduled for an hour 9 morning.
